VAISEF recognizes member organizations and the people they employ each year.
VAISEF recognizes its members annually for both their organizations’ accomplishments and the accomplishments of the individuals they employ. Four awards are presented every year, and a fifth when there is a deserving awardee.
Margaret Shepherd Teaching Award
VAISEF’s longest-standing award. It recognizes a teacher at a member facility who demonstrates excellence and commitment consistent with the teaching career of Margaret Shepherd.
Making a Difference Award
Presented at the annual conference, this award recognizes a staff member who is truly making a difference in the lives of young people. Open to all professional and paraprofessional staff working with students with special needs at a VAISEF member — excluding teachers, CEOs, presidents and executive-level positions.
Partlow Insurance Best Practices Award
The Partlow Insurance Agency, VAISEF’s endorsed insurance agency, partners with the association to recognize best practice among member schools.
