Complaint Policy

How a complaint about a member school is raised, who reviews it, and what the association can and cannot do.

The association can review whether a member school has met the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Accreditation. It cannot arbitrate a placement dispute, alter an IEP, or direct a school to admit or retain a student — those sit with the school and the placing agency.

Complaints are made in writing to the office and reviewed by the Accreditation Committee. The school is notified and given an opportunity to respond.

If you are a parent with a concern about a school, raise it with the school first. Most matters are resolved there, and the committee will ask whether you have.
